Albert
Albert is a beautiful Tri-color English Springer Spaniel whelped July 12th, 2017. Albert loves attention and his willingness to please which has stayed with him from a puppy making Albert an extremely biddable dog. He was easy to teach and retrieving came easy, a 22 caliber blank was introduced at a distance, while making retrieves as a pup were strong he easily accepted gunshots as they became closer.
While in western South Dakota, at only 4 months Albert was the youngest pup that I've ever taken out west, Albert was just a good handling pup and had been around gun fire so I decided to take him along. Albert behaved very well in the field and the long ride out. When I had Albert in the field I broke away from the group ran him and another dog, got lucky as both dogs were out front as the flushing pheasant decided to fly behind me, which allowed me swing around and shoot in the opposite direction from the dogs, I connected on the pheasant and the older dog went for the retrieve with Albert following right behind, his head and tail high with excitement. Albert has become a very pleasant dog to hunt behind he stays fairly close while quartering with little or no commands needed. Albert has been doing very well he is now a Flushing Champion in the United Field Trialers Association "UFTA" and also an Amateur Flushing Champion in the National Upland Championship Series "NUCS". Albert has been doing very well at the Hunter's Trials in Ohio often winning or placing in the top three. At two years old Albert has a muscular build weighing 48 pounds.
12/31/17 at 5 months old Albert competed in the Puppy Class at a Hunter's Trial, he quartered nicely fond flushed and retrieved shot birds to hand. Albert won at his first competition. |

4-2018 Albert competed at the Allegheny Bird Dog Hunt Challenge in Pennsylvania and wins the puppy class. |
6-2018 Albert at the Great Lakes Sport Dog event graded with a nearly perfect score, pretty good for a pup 10 1/2 months old. |
08/04/2018 Albert gets a perfect score on each and every of the 4 birds, excellent especially for 12 month old pup. |
9/19/18 Albert starts off the season with a win at the Hunter's Trial in Cuyahoga, he handles so easy and quickly located birds. Albert flushed the chukars and retrieved everyone to hand |

September 15, 2019 Albert competed at Crooked Creek in the Gun Dog class and was awarded first place. |
September 22 2019 I receive Albert's 1st Place award at the Hunter's Trial for the Derby class dogs 2 1/2 years of age and younger. Albert is such a nice handling dog with an excellent nose. |

| First ever competing in the National Upland Challenge Series "NUCS" and went to Lamoni IA, Albert competed in the Amateur class for dogs 2 years and younger. The competition used Chukars and Albert won both events each day he is off to a very good start in NUCS. | |

| Albert competed against flushers of all ages in the UFTA Doubles Flushing event winning Saturday and again on Sunday. Quail were used and Albert easily found flushed and retrieved shot birds to hand. | |

| Albert has been on a winning streak and while at Hunt's Game Preserve in Jarrett, VA just east of Richmond he won both days. Albert quickly retrieved the quail to hand and cleaned up on the Quail Blast. | |

Albert is 2020 Reserve National Champion in the United Field Trialers Association. Numerous dogs from many states came to Alabama for UFTA's Flushing Doubles and Albert did an outstanding job. |
Ohio Rifle & Pistol Association's 2020 Hunt Challenge Albert was the overall Champion from a field of 36 dog entries. Albert is so smooth and has such a good nose it's amazing the speed that he finds the birds while staying in easy gun range. |

January 2021 at the Lincoln Trail Quail Forever club in Kentucky Dakota placed 2nd and Albert 3rd bringing some nice trophies. |

| Albert attended 4 days of hunt testing which each day consisted of two water retrieves with ducks and two land retrieves. Each day the test sites varied one had a lot of vegetation in the water impeding swimming and marking the duck. One of the land test looked easy but the duck was launched next to a treeline and landed in the shadows which cause some difficulty for some dogs. Albert did everything he was suppose to do and earned an UKC title. | |
01/013/2024 We competed in the Ohio Pheasants Forever 2 gun hunt challenge. Albert quickly located and flushed pheasants, it was a windy day and we managed to shoot each of the four pheasants with one shot per bird. We moved quickly through the field but not quite fast enough to beat the better times. Albert is a pleasure to hunt behind he stays in range quarters nicely quickly finds birds and retrieves shot birds to hand. |

| November 2017 at only four months old Albert had made many trips afield, but is by far the youngest pup to ever make the trip to out west to western South Dakota. Albert had been previously introduced to gun fire over a series of training days which he continued to show enthusiasm. While in South Dakota I broke away from our group and hunted with Albert and another one of our springers fortunately a rooster flushed and headed back around me where I turned away from the springers and got a shot and dropped the rooster. Albert followed the older springer and when he was given the opportunity to retrieve the rooster he did so with his tail and his head high. | ||

| November 2018 Albert is an excellent addition hunting wild pheasants on the Cheyenne Sioux Indian Reservation in western South Dakota. I like to rotate dogs hunting over the course of the day it really help keep them fresh by the end of the week. Having dogs that do not require verbal or whistle commands to hunt within range is critical to putting birds in the bag. Albert has very strong hunt prey drive an excellent nose, marks birds well and retrieves consistently to hand. | Christmas day 2018 Albert just loves to retrieve! | |

9-04-2019 Albert is excited to enter the field as he associates shells being loaded into the shotgun as "Game On" and we are about to begin another bird dog training session with live quail. During the summer we got out on live birds about every other week, now that September has arrived and the mornings are cool we have weekly sessions. |

November 17 2019 Albert at a hunt competition at Crooked Creak Hunt club in North East Ohio. The shot pheasant fell near the edge of the ice Albert made a very nice water retrieve by boldly going into the water straight from the handler Eli, to the downed pheasant swimming straight back to Eli and delivering the bird to hand. |
October 26, 2019 at Pheasants Forever Youth Upland Hunt. My 18 year old grandson guided at the hunt with Albert, as Albert is an excellent bird dog that is easy handling. The youths are pictured with chukars and pheasants, Albert has an easy time finding flushing and retrieving the shot birds to hand. |

| November 21 through November 25 2019 Albert two years old is truly an excellent upland bird dog at hunting wild pheasants and sharp tail grouse while in western South Dakota. It is important to avoid all human talk and use of whistles while hunting wild birds and Albert hunts very hard and stays in range hunting as a team eliminating the need for commands. Albert is pictured retrieving a pheasant from sorghum and the other other pictures are two different days taking quick photo break. | ||
12-29-2019 Hunters Trial Pinecrest Albert had an excellent run and won the Derby event. Chukars and Hungarian Partridge were used at the trial, Hungarian Partridge are in the picture. |

April 18, 2021 Albert wins the Ohio National Upland Classic Series Flushing division. He made 3 separate finds, flushes and retrieved three chukars to hand in a 6 1/2 acre field in 2 1/2 minutes. |

| March 2024 Albert & Gunner placed 5th at the Upland Classic Series National Championships. What is amazing though is that Albert was not perky and on top of his game early in the week during qualifiers, and he definitely was not feeling well the day of the finals. Albert ended up going to an animal hospital, he was diagnosed with pyothorax an infection within his chest, one point 800 ML of fluid was removed from his chest. Albert underwent very invasive surgery, his entire chest was split open, there was infection in the mediastinum which was removed, pretty extensive what was done inside his chest cavity. Albert's surgery wound goes from the top of his chest to his stomach. Albert was in an incubator prior to surgery, post surgery 100% oxgen, he spent over a week in animal hospitals. Albert is recovering at home it will be months before he can resume full activities. | ||
